Terms of Use
Last updated July 1, 2026
YANTA is free and open-source software provided under the MIT License. By downloading or using it, you agree to these terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using YANTA, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not accept these terms, do not use YANTA. YANTA is provided "as is" and "as available" without any warranties or guarantees.
2. MIT License
YANTA is licensed under the MIT License. This means:
- You are free to use YANTA for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.
- You are free to copy, modify, and distribute YANTA, provided you include the original license and copyright notice.
- You may use YANTA in your own projects, subject to the terms of the MIT License.
For the full MIT License text and details, visit https://github.com/omarahm3/yanta/blob/master/LICENSE. The source code is available at https://github.com/omarahm3/yanta.
3. Your Notes and Data
You own your data. All notes and data created in YANTA are stored locally on your device as plain JSON files. YANTA does not collect, store, transmit, or process your notes on any remote server.
You are responsible for backups. While we strive to make YANTA reliable, you are solely responsible for maintaining backups of your notes and data. We strongly recommend that you regularly back up your YANTA data directory to prevent loss. Neither mrg.sh nor the YANTA project is liable for any loss or corruption of your data.
By using YANTA, you acknowledge that you understand the importance of data backups and accept full responsibility for protecting your own data.
4. No Accounts, Subscriptions, or Payments
YANTA is completely free. There are no accounts to create, no subscriptions to purchase, and no payments required. You do not need to provide personal information, an email address, or payment information to use YANTA.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to use YANTA for:
- Any illegal activity or to violate any applicable laws or regulations.
- Storing or transmitting any content that is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable.
- Circumventing, disabling, or interfering with security-related features of YANTA.
- Attempting to reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble YANTA, except as permitted by applicable law.
- Using YANTA to harm, threaten, harass, or abuse any person or entity.
If you violate these terms, your use of YANTA may be discontinued, though YANTA is provided locally and cannot be remotely disabled.
6. No Warranty
YANTA IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, OR ANY OTHER WARRANTY. THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE QUALITY AND PERFORMANCE OF YANTA IS WITH YOU.
We do not warrant that YANTA will meet your requirements, operate without interruption, be error-free, or be free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant that any defects in YANTA will be corrected.
7. Limitation of Liability
IN NO EVENT SHALL OMAR AHMED OR THE YANTA PROJECT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, PUNITIVE, OR EXEMPLARY DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, GOODWILL, USE, DATA, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YANTA, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.
IN NO EVENT SHALL OMAR AHMED OR THE YANTA PROJECT'S LIABILITY EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR YANTA, IF ANY. IF YOU PAID NOTHING FOR YANTA (WHICH IS THE CASE FOR ALL USERS), THEN THE LIABILITY IS ZERO.
8. Third-Party App Stores
If you download or install YANTA from the Microsoft Store or any other third-party app store, the standard application license terms for that store also apply to your use of YANTA, in addition to these Terms of Use. In the event of a conflict between these Terms of Use and a third-party store's terms, the terms most favorable to you shall apply.
YANTA is an open-source application. Any version distributed through third-party stores remains subject to the MIT License.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time without notice. Your continued use of YANTA following the posting of revised Terms of Use means that you accept and agree to the changes. It is your responsibility to review these Terms of Use periodically for updates.
